"Discover Shiretoko" was born as a collaborative project between Japan's Shiretoko Foundation and Mozilla Japan. The version 3.5 of Mozilla's Firefox Web browser, released in July 2009, was codenamed "Shiretoko."

It is our earnest hope that the mission and mindest behind the Mozilla project and the history and continuing efforts of the Shiretoko Foundation will serve as inspiration and proof to all that the power of many can and will change our environment's future.
